The essential roadside skill every cyclist needs

The 10 Steps:

  1. Shift to smallest rear cog, open brake.

  2. Remove wheel & deflate tyre fully.

  3. Pry one bead with tyre lever; slide to expose tube

  4. Check tyre & rim for thorns, glass.

  5. Inflate new tube slightly; insert.

  6. Re-seat bead starting opposite valve.

  7. Pinch-check no tube is trapped.

  8. Inflate to rideable pressure; finish with floor pump at home.
